Google Maps is becoming dangerous

Google Maps is becoming dangerous

Thousands of fake accounts are being added to Google Maps every month.  Already, about 5 million fake company listings and phone numbers have been added to it.  The data came up in a recent Wall Street Journal study.

These fake companies listed include merchants, repairers and car rental companies.  They are taking refuge in fraud because people go to companies at an urgent moment.  At that time, there is not enough time to verify the credibility of the companies.

However, Google's claim, an academic study conducted on their own finances found that only 1.5 percent of local searches were falsified.  However, the Wall Street Journal's research report is different.

The study found that out of the 20 searches on Google Maps, 7 were the result of fake business organizations.  Only two companies have been found that actually list all of Google's guidelines.

Google usually verifies whether a business is legitimate by mailing a postcard.  Call or e-mail numerical code to be listed on Google Maps.  However, it is very easy for scammers to bypass the steps using a fake address and phone number.
